To make the pom-pom at the top of the hat: Ch 2, then 4 dc in the second chain from the hook. Attach this to the tip of the hat.
For the rest of the finishing touches, I used a darker green for the eyebrows and the nose, yellow around the eyes, and black embroidery thread for the mouth (you can also split a piece of black cotton thread).
See the photos below for a clear explanation of how to make the eyebrows.
Now, attach the cloth to the head, or simply attach a cord to the head so it can be hung on the tree or your keychain.
Time for Fleece!
Now that we've crocheted everything, it's time to sew the fleece!
Cut a long piece of cotton yarn from your ball and grab your tapestry needle. If you don't have a tapestry needle with a point, that's no problem! Since this fleece is relatively thin, a blunt needle will also work, though it will require a bit more effort.
At the beginning under What do you need? it says:
- Optional: a piece of tape (not duct tape), a pen, and a ruler.
Let's grab those, because here comes a little hack!
- Take your tape and stick it to your desk. This can be painter's tape or insulation tape, it doesn’t matter, as long as it sticks comfortably.
- Place your ruler on the tape and measure 1 cm.
- Use your pen to mark two lines on the tape, leaving a 1 cm gap between them.
Once you've done that, stick the tape around your thumb in the following way!
It doesn't matter what type of sewing stitch you use; I used the blanket stitch for my grinch because I love the effect it gives! Of course, you can adjust the cm to fit your stitch.
For those who are not familiar with the Festoon/Blanket stitch, you pass your needle through the fabric from the back, leaving a small loop, then bring the needle through the front of the fabric again. Repeat this process until you’ve sewn the cloth all the way around.
Once we’ve sewn the cloth all the way around, it’s time to assemble the creature!
Lightly stuff the arms at the bottom and sew them in a straight line behind the closure ring.
Then, sew the creature onto the cloth and stitch the arms together.
